Better Streets Plan Institutional Analysis

To implement the Better Streets Plan in a consistent and coordinated manner the City is also taking steps to improve its street delivery process. The City asked the Controller's Office to study and make recommendations for how to improve the City's street delivery process. The final report is now available:

Previous Plan Drafts

Plan Revisions
Following release of the Better Streets Plan Draft for Public Review (June 2008), staff received public comment on the Draft Plan, summarized here. Based on this comment, staff developed Plan Revisions. The Plan Revisions amend or augment the Draft for Public Review, and have been incorporated into the Better Streets Plan Final Draft.

Better Streets Plan Draft for Public Review

The Better Streets Plan Draft for Public Review was the result of a year-long community process. It was published in June 2008. The Draft for Public Review has been superseded by the Better Streets Plan Final Draft.

Better Streets Plan Initial Concepts
Because different streets play different roles—and should therefore be designed differently—the Initial Concepts are divided by street type. For each street type, the illustrations show a typical existing condition, a set of standard improvements (such as street trees, curb ramps, and pedestrian lighting), and a set of additional options that could be applied given the circumstances of a particular street.

The Initial Concepts were developed in Summer 2007, and were incorporated into subsequent drafts.
